The idea of exploring Janine Benyus’ Biomimicry in a book was quite ironic, considering books share information within sheets of paper, like trees do about their life through their rings of bark.
I wanted to showcase macro-photography as much as possible throughout the publication as much of biomimicry comes from biological structures and patterns found in nature. This shows how we take inspiration from plants, animals and systems to create our own products, engineering, design and human systems.
I also wanted to convey the broad spectrum of nature we can learn from so used colour as a means of wayfinding and segmenting each chapter excerpt.
I will always have a deep passion for ecology, nature and what we can learn from it, so this project has a special place in my heart.
